Director Darnell Martin was attending film school at NYU when she wrote I LIKE IT LIKE THAT, a comedy-drama-romance from Columbia Pictures that marked her motion picture directorial debut in 1994. It also earned her Best First Film from the New York Film Critics Association and was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival. Subsequently, she co-wrote and directed A PRISON SONG for New Line featuring Q-Tip and Mary J. Blige. Darnell, an episodic director for both LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and LAW & ORDER: SVU, has directed for such series as HOMICIDE, DRAGNET, and ER. She also helmed the pilot of HBO’s critically acclaimed series OZ.
